YOUTH PROGRAM SUMMARY
The regular season for Hillsborough Youth Lacrosse runs from the first weekend in March through the first weekend in June.
All 4th through 8th grade teams will practice twice each week. In March, practice is Saturday and Sunday mornings at Amsterdam Elementary School or the High School Turf field. In April and May, teams practice two evenings (Mon, Tues, Wed or Thurs) each week at Docherty Park on Route 206 or Amsterdam Elementary School.
The 1st through 3rd grade team is a lacrosse clinic format primarilly focused on skills development. In March, the clinic team will practice Saturday and Sunday mornings at Amsterdam Elementary School or the High School Turf field. In April and May, the clinic team will practice two evenings (Mon, Tues, Wed or Thurs) each week at Docherty Park on Route 206 or Amsterdam School.
The 4th through 8th grade teams play games primarily on Saturday and/or Sunday although there may be games during the week on occasion. There can be pre-season scrimmages on weekends in March. In general, teams play most games Away in April while May games are played mostly at home. The schedule for the older teams will typically include a few Away tournaments. Away games are typically no more than one hour from Hillsborough.
The 1st through 3rd grade clinic team players will have additional opportunities to play games against local opponents. The game squads will be determined based on the composition of the local opponents team since this may vary from year to year.
The Hillsborough Youth Lacrosse program provides the following equipment for all players: Chest/Shoulder Pads, Uniforms, Practice Pinney.
Helmets are provided for all players in 1st through 6th grade. All 7th and 8th grade players will need to provide their own helmet. The Hillsborough High School helmet color scheme (Cardinal/Vegas Gold) is used for the 7th and 8th grade teams. The Hillsborough Middle School team also uses the same color scheme.
In addition, the program provides the fields, officials, and all league/tournament fees.
You will need to provide: Helmet (7th& 8th grade only), Legal Lacrosse Stick, Gloves, Arm Pads, Cleats, Protective Cup, Mouthguard, and membership with US Lacrosse.
$200 program fee for players in grades 3 through 8
$150 program fee for players in grades 1 through 2
$25 early bird registration discount
$50 family discount is applied for the second and subsequent players in grades 3 through 8
$200 refundable Uniform/Equipment/Work bond deposit per Family
In addition, US Lacrosse membership is required. The annual USL membership is $25.
